Faheem has experience in a variety of areas of law, focusing on commercial law. He specializes in corporate commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions, corporate restructuring and corporate governance. Faheem has practiced as a corporate commercial law attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright. He has also worked in mergers and acquisitions at PwC.
Faheem has advised both local and international clients, from start-ups, multinational corporations and state institutions to High Net Worth Individuals and family offices across sectors in a variety of transactional, regulatory and litigious matters across Africa, Europe, Far-east Asia and the Middle East.
He has always had a passion for solving complex problems with simple solutions. It is for this reason that he brings lateral “out-of-the-box” thinking to transactions and litigious matters.
Faheem has done extensive work in the property, mining and beneficiation, manufacturing (particularly agro-processing), agriculture and logistics sectors. Over the last few years he has also worked with several local and international clients in the fintech industry on a variety of products and platforms.
Faheem has also cultivated a strong employment law practice and has represented both executives and corporates in high profile matters and land mark cases.
From a litigation perspective, Faheem has experience in general commercial litigation and has particular expertise in procurement related matters in both the public and private sectors.
While he possesses strong technical knowledge, his most valuable attribute is the strategic direction he provides in matters. He takes great pride in being able to help guide and fulfil the strategic objectives of his clients.
Faheem also holds positions as a non-executive director on the boards of several companies and often sits on the investment committee of these entities. This also allows him to truly view matters from a client’s perspective and understand matters commercially and practically and not purely from a legal viewpoint. This often proves invaluable to his clients.
Through his work outside of South Africa, particularly in Africa and the UK, Faheem has acquired on-the-ground experience in many jurisdictions and has developed an extensive network of competent professionals across disciplines and partners to assist on transactions and litigious matters from start to finish. He has also advised several African state institutions on policy formulation, specifically economic policy formulation.
Faheem’s greatest source of professional fulfilment is to walk the journey with his client’s and build deep long lasting relationships.
Outside of work, Faheem loves hiking, is a history buff and reading great classic books (The Lord of the Rings definitely counts). Grassroots football development is close to his heart and he is a true believer that sports can help build leadership qualities in children and help uplift communities and build cohesive societies.
